Bean Brothers Café Bistro

In a city full of Starbucks and Blendz Coffee shops, the two of us set out to look for something...well something not so commerical. Sure Starbucks or Blendz is great when you're in a rush and late for an early morning meeting. But when you have the day off and have no where to be, finding the right place to slow down and take in the moment is as essential as breathing. So, we headed to Kerrisdale Village, a hive of busy shops, offices, traffic and passerbys and scouted for something local...and for us something new.

Bean Brothers Café Bistro - a place that has been around for the last 20 years. Open daily starting at 5:30am and closing by 11pm, they run the full menus of breakfast, lunch, dinner and any other meal in between.

Their smooth rich dark lattes and brewed coffee is a refreshing change from the over-roasted and often too-sweet concoctions of those other places. With coffee such as this in the world, how bad can things really be?

Breaking fast - I ordered the Breakfast Burrito - scrambled eggs, cheddar, avocado, sour cream, salsa and minus the bacon (being a vegetarian) wrapped up in a grilled Tortilla and served with a side of crispy hash browns.

Jean-François ordered his usual Eggs Benedict with a side of crispy hash browns. For an extra $2, he had them throw in a local favourite...smoked salmon.

Simple home cooking is what you can find here and Bean Brothers Cafe and Bistro...a definite Must EAT Here!
